Two translated Kuro no Kiseki movies?!

It’s that time of year again and I seem to have accidentally translated two movies at once. Actually I was waiting a while to see if Falcom followed their ‘Short PV’ with a longer one. Maybe that’s what they’ll be springing on us during this week’s livestream. In any event, Kuro launches in a little over a week and hype levels are redlining.

A9VG interview with Toshihiro Kondo

This is a quick translation of the interview recently conducted with Falcom’s president, which can be found here. As I can’t read Chinese, I can’t vouch for all the nuances that might have been lost in the translation first into Chinese and then into English via machine translation, but I feel confident I’ve gotten all the key points correct. This was a really good interview and the questions make it clear that the interviewer is quite familiar with Falcom and their games. As this interview is primarily about Hajimari no Kiseki it contains inherent spoilers for Cold Steel 4. My commentary will be in italics.

Hajimari no Kiseki lyric teaser translation

Recently, Falcom left a pair of tweets related to Hajimari no Kiseki (here and here) and Gu4n and Hansuke suspect they’re lyrics to a song from the game, either the OP song which Kondo named in a recent Famitsu interview as ‘No End, No World’ or the inevitable ED song. After Sen III I’m not going to be dogmatic about which it is based on lyrics but it feels opening theme-ish to me. In any event, I thought I’d do a translation of what we’ve got and see what we can pick up from them. Hat-tip to Florac on the Falcom Discord who drew all of this to my attention.

It should go without saying but since there will be Hajimari speculation below, there will be spoilers for the end of the Cold Steel games.

Falcom Glossary progress notes

I’ve added a tracker to give people an idea where I am on entering information into the Falcom Glossary. As you can tell, I’m focused on the Sen no Kiseki/Cold Steel games for now since they’re of the most immediate interest to the English-speaking fanbase. I’ll break out the massive catchall that is ‘everything else’ once I can quantify individual franchises.

Just to give a quick idea what this looks like on my end, my combined notes for the nine main Kiseki games amount to about about six times the length of everything else put together. So once I’ve gotten over that barrier, the rest should go a lot quicker.

Forums are open!

Due to the unexpected and imminent closure of the XSEED discussion boards (which have been a wonderfully chill place to discuss all things Falcom for years now) I’ve launched a new board on this site to hopefully take its place. There’s a link that can now be found on the sidebar and one right here. I have account approval in place so there may be a slight delay between registering and receiving the confirmation email. As with everything else, you can use the Contact Me link if you’re having trouble registering.

Hajimari no Kiseki: Teaser Site Translation

The news that’s coming out of Falcom’s annual shareholders meeting is about as incredible as anything they’ve ever announced. With my hype levels soaring, I decided to translate the teaser website for the just-announced Hajimari no Kiseki in full, because it made an already amazing announcement even more awesome. Check it out!

Launching!

10/22/2019

And the site is now actually live! Since today marks the release of Cold Steel III to the English-speaking fandom, it seems a perfect time to introduce my little project to the world. Pardon the dust as I’m still setting things up and please enjoy the beginnings of the Falcom Glossary here.
